Climate resilience: an artisan toolkit for recovery, regeneration and renewal
The League of Artisans introduces a ground-breaking toolkit addressing climate challenges from the perspective of artisans themselves:
‘Climate Resilience: An Artisan Toolkit for Recovery, Regeneration, Renewal’
A pioneering synthesis of Indigenous knowledge, local traditions, and scientific insights, the toolkit amplifies artisanal voices, values ancestral wisdom, and highlights grassroots ingenuity while grounding its findings in the rigour of scientific research. Offering strategies for mitigating risks, recovering from adversities, and strengthening artisanal enterprises the toolkit underscores adaptive practices rooted in lived experiences,
Weaving narratives of climate resilience from communities across Asia, Africa, and Latin America—including Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Peru, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. Through this endeavour, the League of Artisans reaffirms its commitment to the principles of its ‘Artisan Manifesto’.
The toolkit is particularly attentive to the needs of women-led initiatives. For policymakers, it provides actionable insights to integrate resilience into disaster management frameworks, while empowering artisan communities to navigate the complexities of climate change with agency and creativity.
Supported by the British Council’s Philippines: Connections Through Culture Grant, the toolkit addresses climatic risks like typhoons and flooding, with a focus on textile artisans. This initiative marks the first step in a broader series aimed at building climate resilience across diverse contexts.
